M&P in 9mm Major
I
bought an M&P C.O.R.E. 5 inch, then a Trijicon RMR to go on it for
my first reflex-sighted pistol. I shot it and carried it for
several years. I had heard of 9mm Major, but never experimented
with it. then I saw John Wick 3:
Parabellum.
In it, Charon recommends the caliber. It had never occurred to me
that someone might commercialy load 9 Major. I bought a 24 pound
recoil spring, then a stainless steel barrel in 9mm. It had to be
plain stainless, because a throat reamer won't cut nitrided steel, and
the rifling starts way too close to the chamber for the
long-loaded 9mm Major rounds.

I have fired multiple brands of 9mm Major through it with zero
issues. Any time I try a new brand I always do a "Plunk
test"
with the barrel, just to make sure the new round isn't resting on the
lands of the rifling.(that would cause chamber pressure to
skyrocket. If it does I'll need to take the throat reamer and
lengthen the leade just a little more.)

I also bought another barrel and rechambered it for .356 TSW. I love this cartridge almost as much
as 9mm Major, but it's a lot harder to find commercial
ammunition. As far as I can tell only Underwood is still making
it. (I've also rechambered several other pistols for this wonderful
cartridge.)
Fun
project.
